Product standards

A standard is an agreed document adopted by a recognized standards body which establishes rules, general principles or characteristics for general and repeated use and is intended to introduce an optimal procedure in a particular field.

Why are standards necessary?
  • to protect the health and life of humans and animal, the environment, material goods, and consumer interests, and to ensure their safety;
  • to create conditions for the free movement of goods and services;
  • to improve the quality of products and services with a view to their competitiveness on the domestic and foreign markets;
  • to represent the interests of the national economy in international and European standardisation;
  • to create conditions for the efficient use and conservation of state resources.
